"...whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for
me." Sound familiar? These words were spoken by The One at the recent
Saddleback Civil Forum, as a biblical reminder of America's
shortcomings, according to obama. Nervermind the U.S., according to
estimates, is 14 times more generous than Germany when it comes to
charity, all but overlooked at the last mass rally honoring The Chosen
One in Berlin.
According to
Lorie Byrd
in her TH column today, "in all but the two most recent years reported,
the Obamas gave around 1% or less of their income to charity. Their
contributions increased in 2005 and 2006 to 4.7% and 6.1% respectively,
but still
are far short
of those of McCain who gave 28.6% in 2006 and 27.3% in 2007." That's
simple math, just like the statistics that say since obama has been on
the campaign trail for 2 out of his three years in the senate, he cares
about the people he represents 33% of the time, and about himself for
66% of the time. The importance of these statistics are made ever more
significant given the recent diatribe by camp obama, railing against
McCain in regard to the investment properties owned by Cindy McCain.
Since when is being an entrepreneur and good at making money,
automatically make you evil? Answer: Since this campaign began
running on, among other things, the classic populist (socialist)
agitator issue of class warfare.
All that can be said is:
1. The McCains are living the American dream; they would like the rest of us to do the same.
2. The McCains have both sacrificed much for this country (John as
a POW for 3 years longer than obama has been in the senate, and Cindy
through her charitable work in third world countries and most palpably
by her adoption of a Bangladesh orphan. Remember, the McCains saved
the life of an genetically unrelated individual in contrast to the help
withheld from obama's half brother in Kenya, George Hussein Obama).
3. The McCains have acquired their properties LEGALLY, not with
the help of a Chicago political slick rat who received 14 million
dollars in funds afterward, steered his way by the very person whom he
helped acquire his Hyde Park house/land. In the words of Brian Rogers,
a McCain spokesman "Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year,
just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his
own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really
want to get into a debate about houses?".
The bottom line is this: McCain should hit Obama hard for
criticizing those that have successfully pursued the American Dream,
and should hit Obama very hard for wanting to get there by cheating.
New kind of politician indeed. It's The Chicago Way.
